چکیده

Acute stressors (lasting minutes) were associated with potentially adaptive up regulation of some parameters of natural immunity and down regulation of some functions of specific immunity. Brief naturalistic stressors (such as exams) tended to suppress cellular immunity while preserving humoral immunity. Chronic stressors were associated with suppression of both cellular and humoral measures. Vestibular system is connected with hypothalamus and hypothalamus regulates immune reactions. Stress responsiveness is primarily regulated by two neuroendocrine axes: the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) and sympathetic adrenomedullary (SAM) systems. A thorough review of literature revealed that vestibular stimulation inhibits both HPA axis and SAM axis and decreases cortisol level and heart rate and blood pressure within normal limits and brings to stressless condition and prevents immune suppression. It is the need of time to identify the importance of vestibular stimulation and to start translational research for the well being and peak performance of human being and also for patient care and treatment.

Developmental expression of tyrosine kinase b in rat vestibular nuclear neurons responding to horizontal and vertical linear accelerations

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is known to be crucial for the development of peripheral vestibular neurons. However, the maturation profile of the BDNF signal transducing receptor, tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) in functionally activated otolith-related vestibular nuclear neurons of postnatal rats remains unexplored. In the present study, conscious Sprague-Dawley rats (P4 to adult) were sub...

Visual-vestibular interaction during off-vertical axis rotation.

The aim of this study was to further define the eye movement response to combined visual and vestibular stimulation, especially during linear acceleration. Subjects included 15 asymptomatic healthy individuals (8 females and 7 males) between the ages of 20 and 31 years. Vestibular stimulation consisted of earth-vertical axis rotation and off-vertical axis rotation (OVAR). Visual stimuli consist...
